Our submission process is designed to be clear, supportive, and respectful of your work. Here is an overview of the process:

Download and carefully review our Author Guidelines to ensure your manuscript aligns with one or more of our focus areas and formatting requirements.

Prepare Your Materials

Following the Author Guidelines, prepare your proposal (include 300-word synopsis, author bio, and sample of the manuscript).

Submit Your Proposal

Submit your proposal via email to support@wsspress.org. Add "Proposal Attached" to your subject line. Please send only your proposal during open submissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an academic affiliation to submit?

No. WSS Press welcomes submissions from independent scholars, practitioners, community educators, and activists alongside those affiliated with universities or seminaries. What matters is the quality, rigor, and relevance of the work — not institutional credentials.

Do you accept proposals for edited collections?

Yes. For edited collections, please submit a detailed proposal including the collection’s central theme, a list of proposed contributors (with brief bios), and sample chapters from at least two contributors.

How should I handle permissions for images or quoted material?

Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for all copyrighted material included in their manuscript. Our Author Guidelines include a detailed section on permissions and copyright.

Can I submit a manuscript that has been self-published?

In most cases, we require that submitted work be previously unpublished in book form. If your manuscript has been self-published or published in a limited edition, please contact us at support@wsspress.org before submitting to discuss whether it may be considered.

What manuscript length do you accept?

We typically publish works between 60,000 and 120,000 words. Shorter works (under 60,000 words) may be considered if the content warrants it. Please refer to our Author Guidelines for full details on manuscript length by category.

Can I submit simultaneously to other publishers?

We understand that simultaneous submissions are common practice. If your manuscript is under consideration elsewhere, please let us know in your submission. If you receive an offer from another publisher while your work is under review with us, please notify us immediately so we can expedite our review.
